In order to liberate Ren, the Night Raiders revolted against TLT . At this moment, the fiendish beast Galberos appears! And Unknown Hand reveals himself in the midst of a population centre…

EPISODE 34 - AD 2009 IS AVAILABLE FOR DOWNLOAD AT ANARION’s SITE!

In Episode 34:

Upon the appearance of the TLT North America inspector, Sara Mizuhara, the Night Raiders realised that they had also been subjected to mindwipes.

The disaster that happened at Shinjuku five years ago was actually the clash between Ultraman and a space beast. After the incident, TLT erased the memories of those who knew of the truth, worldwide.

Why did they do that?

Sara told the Night Raiders that the space beasts are creatures that feed on fear.

After whacking Ren onto the ground, the beast Megaflash went back into its hole in the sky. Then as Ren was recovering, the beast reappeared again. Komon tried to persuade ren not to transform, but he say he’s just like them, fighting for justice. Mizuo rushes back to see Ren transforming into Nexus.

In Episode 33:

TLT North America sent an inspector, Sara Mizuhara to Japan to investigate the invisible enemy - Unknown Hand.

Mizuhara was said to be intimately involved with Project Prometheus, and was responsible with a drug associated with the Project. “RAPHAEL” was developed to counter the fatal side effects of genetic manipulation.

In the conference room, did Sara reveal the original form of the space beasts? And their motive?

EPISODE 32 - UNKNOWN HAND IS AVAILABLE FOR DOWNLOAD AT ANARION’s SITE!

In Episode 32:

Mizorgoi escapes from TLT’s custody.

Mizuo becomes Mizorogi’s hostage, hidden in the woods.

Although Mizorogi was someone who wields the Dark powers and had committed murder, Mizuo strangely develops confidence in him.

Komon and Saijyo are hot on the trails of the abductor and the hostage. However, killing Mizorogi will not solve the problem. As a result, Komon ditches his weapon. Yet, Mizorogi was killed by a hail of bullets from his behind.

Is Mizorogi’s killer an invisible enemy? This is somebody who has control over the Unkown Hand.

In this episode:

For the past month, campers have mysteriously disappeared from their camp sites. For those who survived the ordeal, the witnesses couldn’t recall what happened.

Mizorogi was found deep in the mountains near where the incidents occured, and had witnessed all that happened. Was he responsible for the atrocities committed by the space beasts?

Meanwhile, Mizuo regrets that she couldn’t accomplish her misson.

Riko, who had her memories wiped out after her family’s tragic encounter with Nosferu after the trip to the zoo, managed to remember who she was. And somehow, she encountered Mizorogi at his hiding place . . .

EPISODE 27 - PRAYER, and EPISODE 28 - REUNION, IS AVAILABLE FOR DOWNLOAD AT ANARION’s SITE!

In episode 27:

A new Ultraman appears! This agile fighter is Junis Blue.

Komon has been searching the remote areas of the mountain where Nexus disappeared. The living soul which is to be found there ought to be the next Deunamist. But all he found was a lonely youth.

Komon follows him to the amusement park and makes contact with him. He is amazed that this youth is injured in the same area where Ultraman Nexus was hit.

The Memory Police has issued orders to place this youth under surveillance. Agent Mizuo has been assigned to take on this mission. But instead, this youth has detected her presence, and made her his quarry instead.

In episode 28:

Ren realises that the Memory Police have the ability to erase people’s memories. Meanwhile, Mizuo befriends Ren so as to spy on him. Unknowingly, she begins to develop a crush on her quarry.

Komon continues checking up on Group PP, and stumbles upon Project Prometheus.

Yuu Kirasawa remarks that the new Deuanamist’s performance is beyond expectations.

EPISODE 26 - THE THIRD, IS AVAILABLE FOR DOWNLOAD AT ANARION’s SITE!

In this episode:

Episode 26 marks a new beginning for ULTRAMAN NEXUS.

A 19 year old youth, Ren Senjyu, takes over as the new Deunamist. Ren is a genetically modified human, endowed with extra-sensory perception (ESP) abilities. This energetic and optimistic youth is coming to terms with the responsibility he inherited when he bonded with the Light of Ultra.

Negoro’s expose has set society abuzz with talks about monsters and strange going-ons.

Shutou has a new agent under her charge, a young lady by the name of Mizuo Nonomiya. This young lady’s mission is to maintain surveillance over Ren.

Veteran Ultraman story writer, Ai Ota (太田愛) pens the script for the new chapter of Nexus. doa performs a new track “Blue Fruit (青い果実)” for the new opening theme. The ending theme “Red Hot Beat (赤く熱い鼓動) “, is performed by Rina Aiuchi. A new OP sequence has been designed for the new chapter too.

Epsiode 27 of Nexus will continue on 16 April 2005. This is due to a golf tournament that will be taking place on the 9th of April.

EPISODE 25 - PROPHECY, IS AVAILABLE FOR DOWNLOAD AT ANARION’s SITE!

In this episode:

The TLT executive group interrogates Komon, Saijyo and Captain Wakura about their relationship with Jun Himeya. Although they have the responsibility to declare their liaison with the Deunamist, they with held the information from their higher ups.

Komon also managed to learn about Saijyo’s repressed past.

The TLT executives also learnt that there was a Deunamist that came before Jun Himeya, and wondered about his identity.

Will the mystery of the “Light of Ultra” be revealed?

This episode features the debut of the new character - Ultraman Nexus Junis Blue.

EPISODE 24 - HERO, IS AVAILABLE FOR DOWNLOAD AT ANARION’s SITE!

In this episode:

Nexus was ensnared by tendrils when he couldn’t fight off Chthula. When the tentacles engulf Nexus, that will mean the end of Jun Himeya’s life.

This is part of Mizorogi’s ritual to drain the life out of Ultraman. Even the NR’s attack on Dark Mephisto did him little harm.

In his delirium, Jun meets Sara, the personification of his guilt and burden. Sara is leading him towards the light. . .

In this episode:

Jun disregarded the risks to his health and tranforms into Ultraman to battle the space beasts. He is courting death. Megumi Sakuta, his ex-colleague and possible lover, is worried about Jun. She learnt the whole truth from Mizorogi.

Meanwhile, Yuu Kirasawa, explained the principles behind this entanglement with the beasts. The recurrence of these beast incidents appears to be a signal for something that’s about to happen . . .

In this episode:

Jun has lost his power to transform into Ultraman . Yuu warned Jun that he would lose his life if he tried transforming into the silver giant again.

But, the results came to naught. Thus, they decided to carry out other tests which may endanger the life of Himeya . . .

In this episode:

Negoro discovers the camera left behind by the journalist, who took the pictures of Golgolem before he perished. He then published the evidence of the existence of space beasts in the open press.

Over at TLT’s headquarters, the defense scientists had to come up with new hardware to combat the space beast that can phase in and out of the metafield. This new platform is able to compute the location of Golgolem, and to pursue the beast right into the metafield.

Komon is assigned to pilot this new platform - Chrome Chester Chrome Chester δ (Delta)

Ultraman Nexus appeared once again, and he should be able to subdue the beast. But . . .

In this episode:

Golgolem, the invisible type beast, makes its appearance in this episode. Ultraman Nexus’ attacks are useless against the Golgolem when the beast shifts phase into another dimension. It can only be stopped by the “Cross Phase Trap". However, this trap poses danger to the surrounding population, and the the Night Raiders have only 180 seconds to subdue the beast. . .

But a year ago, Mizorogi was befallen by a terrible evil . . .

In this episode:

Komon and the NR battle the space beasts and their involuntary human collaborators. Ultraman Nexus battles the fiendish beast, Galberos. On Captain Eisuke’s initiative the Night Raiders chipped in to help in the Metafield. In the Metafield, Strike Chester’s instrumentations had been spoofed by Galberos, and Komon is not able to take a proper aim . . .

Back at base, Captain Eisuke begins relating Mizorogi’s past to Komon, on what happened about a year ago.

Komon saved the life of the girl who was abducted by the Space Beast Nosphil. In spite of that, the elder brother of the girl told Komon that he wouldn not get what he wished for in this life. And that troubled him. Jun later appeared before Komon, and told him about his past. Jun told Komon of his responsibility after his first encounter with the Ultraman. Meanwhile, Jun’s ex-colleagues, Sakuta and Negoro dwelved deeper into Jun’s disappearance case.

WHO IS HE?

In Episode 9 of Ultraman Nexus, you witnessed the (almost) combined might of the Chrome Chesters Alpha to Beta. If not for Komon, the Strike Chester would have become a victim of fracticide or “friendly fire". That is, if the TLT considers Ultraman Nexus as “friend".

Besides the Alphan, Beta and Gamma variants of the Chrome Chesters, a new mecha, Chrome Chester Delta will soon be introduced (remember the number of revolving containers in the hangars of Fortress Freedom? There’s gonna be more than just three types of vehicle). Besides the Strike Chester, the three “Chesters” can also combine to form the Dig Chester and Mega Cannon Chester. With the addition of Chrome Chester Delta, the four Chesters can now combine to form the Hyperstrike Chester.

Now, who will be piloting Strike Chester Delta?

Ultra N Project is Tsubaraya Production’s initiative to rejuvenate the Ultraman legend for the new millenium - to return ULTRAMAN to his original spirit. One of the goals is to infuse more drama into the new Ultraman shows. There is three schema associated with the launch: “NOA Nostalgia“, “Next Evolution” and “Nexus Trinity“. (view the Ultra N Project CM here)

Now, how are the three projects related to each other?

At first glance, Noa is a character designed for live appearances (stage shows) and printed material. However, there is a possibility that Noa may make appearances in the Ultraman Nexus series (based on if the indicator that Ultraman Noa appeard in the same key-holder gashapon series with Ultraman Nexus). But Ultraman Lah! had already seen Ultraman Noa appearing in the same ’show’ as Ultraman Nexus - during the ULFES 2004 Live Stage. The live stage is part of the ‘official’ narrative of the Ultraman universe. Ultraman Noa had appeared in two official live stage plays, “Part 1 ~ Fight! The First Messenger ~ The Birth of Ultraman Noa” (shown at ULFES 2004 from 24 Jul to 11 Aug 04) and “Part 2 ~ Another Light” (12 Aug to 31 Aug 04)”

While “The Next Evolution” is supposed to introduce a tangential concept to ULTRAMAN - the human host becoming Ultraman via mutation rather than through the usual magical “henshin” transformation. And how do these projects relate to each other? Or are they stand-alone experiments?

According to Ultramangaia from 中国特摄联盟 TFClub, he suggested that Ultraman Nexus (Nexus Trinity) is the “nexus” that links the three projects together, in terms of story continuity. The purpose of Ultraman Noa’s appearance at live stage (official debut at ULFES 2004) is to introduce the idea of the Dark Ultramen, that would appear in Ultraman Nexus (Dark Faust, Dark Mephisto)

The monster that appeared before young Saijyo in Ep 4 of Ultraman Nexus (Metafield) is reportedly “The One” from the Ultraman movie, according to a movie poster.

Based on the images above, there is close resemblance between the ‘beast’ in Nexus and ‘The One” from the movie. Does that mean the movie took place before Ultraman Nexus?

An unsolved mystery of the N Project - does Ultraman Noa have more than one form? From this picture below taken at the second episode of Live Show during ULFES 2004, Ultraman Noa appeared without his wings:

Does it mean that there’s a winged version of Noa and a wing-less version? Other than the wings, there are no other detectable differences in the costume design.

The human hosts for Dark Faust and Dark Mephisto as reported in the earlier post had been verified by the source (though uncorroborated).

The human host for Dark Mephisto appears in Ep 11, while Riko Saida dies in Ep 12. The human host for Dark Mephisto snuffs Jun Himeya in Ep 25.

In the coming year, Bandai Visual (バンダイビジュアル) will be releasing the collected episodes of ULTRAMAN NEXUS on DVD.

Slated for release in January (28 Jan 2005) in Japan is the first volume:

Under the Emotion label, Vol 1 is retailing at Y3,990. (100mins, Dolby Digital Stereo). The first four episodes are collected in the first volume. The DVD Bonus includes 4-paged liner notes, and also the “Making of Nexus", and the OP and ED clips.

Vol 2 will be release in February (24 Feb 2005), with episodes 5 ~ 8.

This is the supposed origins of Nexus, according to this post on TFClub (中国特摄联盟):

Ultraman Nexus, an alien from M-78, was martyred on Earth 5,000 years ago. Nexus sacrificed his life to put Dark Mephisto and the rest of the Dark Ultramen under sealed containment, so as to prevent them from spreading their ill-influence to Earth. Ultimately, Nexus became a spiritual energy that watched over Earth.

However, Dark Mephisto broke the seal and freed himself from detention. Eventually, Nexus’ spirit became one with the “Deunamist” - Jun Himeya.

Saya Shutou (Hitomi Hitaka)
Leader of the Memory Police. Her unit is responsible for deleting the memories of personnel who are not supposed to know the existence of the spacebeasts (and also the apparatus in charge of combating the threat, too).

Jinzou Negoro (大河内浩)
Jun Himeya’s boss, the editor of “Free Journalist", an independent paper that specializes in investigative journalism. A conspiracy nut.

Megumi Sakuta (Tomoko Kawashima)
Jun Himeya’s senior and confidante at “Free Journalist” press. She was worried sick when Jun mysteriously disappeared.

Introduction:

Terrestrial Liberation Trust (TLT) is a clandestine global, non-government organization set up to investigate, research and defeat the “SPACEBEAST” threat. Japan’s TLT (TLT-J) branch is located at a hydroelectric dam found in the mountainous Kanto region (eastern Japan).

TLT-J Organization structure:

The respond team is codenamed NIGHTRAIDER. Komon belong’s to A-UNIT of the NIGHTRAIDER

The base where TLT-J operates from is known as FORTRESS FREEDOM. It is disguised as a hydroelectric dam. This is TLT-J’s third base, and it is located at the bottom of the lake behind the dam. The walls of the dam conceals the hangar that houses the CHROME CHESTER

NIGHTRAIDER is TLT-J’s elite response unit. Uses special weapons and tactics to fight the SPACEBEASTS

The CHROME CHESTER is TLT’s special multi role fighter. It has stealth mode (Opti-camouflage) and VTOL capabilities. The seperate can combine to form a single unit.

Kazuki Komon (Takuji Kawakubo)
Rookie member of the elite Nightraiders.

Jun Himeya (Yusuke Kirishima)
One of the human host for Nexus. These hosts are known as “Deunamist". Jun was previously a photographer who disappeared under mysterious circumstances .

Eisuke Wakura (Tamotsu Ishibashi)
The team leader of Nightraider A Unit. Known to be a man who is well liked and trusted by his comrades.

Nagi Saijo (Yasue Sato)
The deputy team leader of Nightraider (She can be quite a bitch). Cool and steady, she has a strong dislike for SPACEBEASTS.

Mitsuhiko Ishibori (Kosei Kato)
He is the analyst within Nightraider. Specialist in germ and biological weapons.

Shiori Hiraki (Keiko Goto )
She’s supposed to be the marksman on the team. Outgoing personality.

Yu Kirasawa (Nobuhiko Tanaka )
He’s the Operations manager. Directs and control the Nightraiders’ operations from the command centre

Yoichiro Matsunaga (Masami Horiuchi)
Manager of TLT-J. Formerly from the Internal Security Department

Riko Saida (Shion Nakamaru)
Komon’s girlfriend. An undergraduate at an arts university. She loves drawing animals.

What’s for sure, that Dark Faust will not be the only “evil Ultraman” in the series. Dark Mephisto may be Faust’s alter-ego (in the same vein as Anphas and Junius) or that he may be another character altogether.
